appropriate subject titles would be helpful for new topics

Post by lazy_yogi »

rather than subject titles such as "help" or "another noobie messin it up" or something else pointless and giving no explaination about the topic, it'd be helpful to others if you took a second and thought of an appropriate title for your message.

For example, if you have a proble with arrays, you might have a subject title "can't get arrays to work". Try and be as specific as possible.

This makes it easier for others to get help if they see something they need to learn about.
And rather than multiple ppl posting the same questions over and over again, this would help avoid many unneccesary posts.

(just as an aside .. it's also good practice to spend a moment and think of an approopriate subject title in emails)

yes i have noticed people in these forums with very unhelpful subject lines you should try to make a reference to the function or thing that is giving you problems

"Rows returning messed in while loop"

is much better than

"Aghhhh, i cant figure this out for 2 hours!!!"

not really php related so im moving this to general discussion.

excellent point though and i totally applaud it. unfortunately there is no real way to enforce it. as a moderator it is tough to distingush between a handful of messages with the topic title: "help"

unfortunatly the common question in IT is "it doesn't work at all" and if you ask in return "and the error message was?" it's likely you hear "I clicked it away because I can't understand it anyway" :?
