[56K WARN] Any Cheap & Decent MP3 Player? - Under $100

Post by DaveTheAve »

Alright I'll make this quick:

Looking for a cheap but decent mp3 player with at LEAST 2GB of storage, under $100.

Ready set go!

P.S. Yes I'll use Ebay too.

2GB under $100 is pretty hard to find, although it should soon be more common. I've been seeing good ones for ~$120.

How about this? $40.01 with 4GB of storage: Ebay Link Here

Yeah I'm a audio FREAK! Can't live without my audio SCREAMING through my X-Fi sound card. But the reason I don't care about the MP3 player is because it's only temp.

cool - it's an eye-pawd tm.

On a serious not, Apple sells refurb iPods fairly cheap. I would never buy a different mp3 player after I got my iPod.

OK, so I drank the kool-aid.

I warn you about this one, I'm not sure since these days a lot of unknown companies come with their new players and some of them design their players in such a way that they look very similar to iPod Nano (see jyhm's post above - he asked if that's an iPod). So here in Israel, one of the big banks offered a free player which looked exactly like this one (but with 512MB) to students who came and opened a bank account in their bank. Now how this related? Well, I've heard somewhere (can't remember where) that this player that the bank offered and looked the same like the one in your post weighs a lot and in general, it's a crappy player.

Edit: If you are thinking about the Second Generation iPod Shuffle, then first make sure you have a USB 2.0 connection. If you don't have one and still want the Second Generation iPod Shuffle then you can buy one for a pretty low price. I bought one for about $9.
Note that in some places Apple says that a USB 1.1 will work too, but that's not true.
Feel free to PM if you have any questions related to the Second Generation iPod Shuffle (I own one)

Dude, what is that thing? Did they steal some iPod cases and put their own letters on the click wheel? Crazy!

Typically the 1.1 USB connection will work for data transfer. The reason you might experience problems without it is that that USB 2.0 also charges the battery in the ipod and allows for your iPod to act as an external drive, so it allows syncing with the device through iTunes and also through a direct file transfer interface in the file browser.

....do you you mean the usb2 card cost $9???

Also, a bank in Canada (Toronto Dominion) has periodic promotions where they give away real iPods. I got a 1st gen shuffle 2 years ago for free, and my gf got a 1st gen nano for free a few months ago. She had to open an account AND a credit card, I only had to open an account.

There might be a similar promotion where you are - look around!

I'm sorry, lol I refuse to by a Ipod. Wanted a Creative: Vision M, but I'm in NO way spending $300 for a mp3 player that I'm hardly gonna use.
