new musics

Post by daedalus__ »

Daedalus had taken a break from making musics because he is horrible but when he sat down the other day and learned a little bit about music (timing, keys, reading) he found that he was a little better at creating it.

He would like opinions on his latest poorly timed, off-key work.

Better?! :D

Only Fruity Loops with Soundfonts. I forgot what other program people mentioned I should have.

I need some really good Soundfonts with lot's of voices if anyone has any. I noticed that many Soundfonts can only make a couple of sounds at once before sounding like total crap-garbage. I've been able to find a really good Piano and a good Flute plus some decent Drum Kits but nothing else, really.

I wish I had a good sound app, as of current I have non.

I took an audio class and got to work at the instructors home studio.
It was a lot fun but the class was limited as most audio classes are at colleges.
Except for something like Full Sail in Florida.

Audio people in the biz have told me the same thing.

Hate to break it to you, but Full Sail is pretty limited too.

There are plenty of schools that have good audio/music programs.

Yes I'm sorry D, it's very nice.

though I'm not much for the style or synth piano/instruments.

I see what you mean by the timing, it seems to lag to far behind.

lag?

The tempo is slow. I was talking about the way the timing changes. I'm not sure if it should. The drums are 6/8 while most of the piano and cello is 4/4. I'm still bad at this stuff.. rofl

i went to full sail for game design. i wouldn't reccommend that school for anything.

go to a real school. they teach you the tech and throw you out as fast as possible. you know how to work the machines but that's about it. theory you don't learn

I'm sorry but I'm not good at beats per measure either. I couldn't tell you a 6/8 from a 4/4, I never fully grasped musical time.

What I meant by lag is that the begining seems VERY SLOW!

But I just listened more carefully and I like the ascending part in the middle, and especially the cello parts. :)

Ah here we go, theory!
One, theory no practicality, the other, practicality no theory.

But it is interesting to know that you went to Full Sail. I am sorry that you did not like it. I will keep that in mind when/whenever I get to Florida

It's just that the pro's that I have spoken with have told me that a lot of students are not taught any thing practical. My instructor worked fro NBC for many years and hated it. He also did movies.

I've also spoken with people from a place in New England called Snow Sound. That does the sound for concerts and events. Very interesting people.

I went to a rival school from Full Sail. Amongst the industry people there and around the campus I've talked to, Full Sail was a joke.

As for schools that have good audio/music programs, it really depends on what you're interested in. There are many. Several of which are in the New York area and some in the LA area. There are others spread out around the country too. Off the top of my head I can't remember specific ones other than for example the more famous of the bunch such as Julliard.

Well thats interesting to know feyd. :)

There is also Berklee School of Music in Boston but that is a really expensive school from what I understand.

I just realized that the drums were off-time, rofl. I fixed them and added a kick, which I like. I also cleaned up a few keys here and there. I'll probably work on it more tonight because I am finishing up a website, at the moment.

Hey, I just decided that it is finished and I want to add vocals of some sort. :)

I'll post again when I figure that part out.

Tell me what you think!
