Has anyone read this document http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~pgut001/p ... a_cost.txt about the real "cost" of Vista? It's a document outlining the problems with the new "content protection" build in to Vista. How Microsoft will use this to get a firmer grip on the market (i.e. forcing hard- and software manufacturers to play by their rules or else ... ). Or how this will effect how different kinds of content will be displayed. Meaning that for example some high-quality DVD will not be displayed properly because the producer of that DVD happens to be no friends with Microsoft. Or something like that.
It's a very long document and very technical. I don't understand all of it and I'm not sure what I can believe or what the consequences are exactly if what's said in the document is true. So this is not a post to bash Microsoft, I am just really interested in the issue. If people have more experience with this or can explain better what's happening, I'd appreciate that.

Next one and your banned!! Just jokingmatthijs wrote:Oops, sorry! I did vaguely remember I posted about it somewhere and I even did a quick search to make sure I didn't double post...![]()
Obviously I
a) have a very bad memory and
b) should start posting less or
c) develop an application/service to track one's comments. Hmmm..
Again, my apologies.
