Ye' old general discussion board. Basically, for everything that isn't covered elsewhere. Come here to shoot the breeze, shoot your mouth off, or whatever suits your fancy. This forum is not for asking programming related questions.
I have heard that some types of web applications require the programmer to obtain a license from the government, sites like Facebook for example. Is this true?
Rarely does a programmer, if ever, need a license procured by a government. No such license is needed for most, if not all, programming in the United States.
Keep in mind that some organizations may require certain levels of clearance in order to work for them, programmers or otherwise. But I am with feyd... I am not sure that there is any programming position that, in and of itself, requires licensing.
True, there are security level requirements for certain things, but that doesn't apply solely to programmers.. and isn't a license per se... which begs the questions: where did you hear this? and how much crack are they on?
I think Chris may have mis-heard? I could understand the company or individual who is putting the website out there needing to obtain a liscense or follow a special protocol depending on content (porn website based in the USA for one), but a programmer needing a liscense to work on it is a silly thought.
