Photoshop CS3 Beta

Post by Chris Corbyn »

Anyone else downloaded and tried this? I'm amazed how much faster than CS2 (and even Elements 4.0) it runs on the Mac purely because it's not using Rosetta. Until now I was still using GIMP over X11 because opening Photoshop in Rosetta was griding everything else to a halt on the Mac Mini.

Installed the windows version earlier for the graphic-artist in our house and that seems to run loads faster than CS2 as well, although I've not done any scientific comparisons. I'll definitely be purchasing this when they release it :D (I wonder if my boss will buy it for me for "work puposes"?)

A friend showed me a UTube video of the photo montaging (is that right?) capabilities of CS3 amongst other things. I have to say it did look very impressive. And OMG they actually improved the interface! From the name "CS3" I was kinda expecting another release where the splash screen changes but not much else.

Check out the PS CS3 videos at NAPP ( http://www.photoshopuser.com ). They pretty much cover all the newest goodies of the edition. I really like that you can open JPG's in camera RAW now... that is simply awesome. While PS CS3 doesn't blow my socks off... I can't wait to see what Adobe has in store for Illustrator CS3. There are some serious things still wrong with the current version.

I love its new layout (should i say "tabs"?), at last i don't have a mess on my screen. And load time was about 50% faster than CS.
My trial period is about to end and can't wait until it will be released.
Does anyone know what will be the price for PS CS3?

*grumble* *grumble*.
Stupid Adobe requiring SP2...
Stupid work not having stupid SP2 on stupid machines...
Real programmers don't comment their code. If it was hard to write, it should be hard to understand.

This thing is fast. I installed it on my mac. Absolutely great. A huge leap forward.

Aside from the speed advantage, I absolutely love two things: firstly the unified user interface and secondly smart filters.

Is there any way I can get the beta if I don't have CS2 (which I don't)?

Yes, extremely easily, but illegally - so not discussed here.
