Not even. I'll popularize So-Mah-Dill so your original pronunciation means nothing to the programming community!'soma' 'dee' 'el'

It's funny ... I thought I said 'giff' and when I read the article I thought, "just another creator trying to require something that has long gone out of his control." English, unlike most languages, has a proscriptive grammar so once you release a word into the wild it is out of your control.
Then I said "GIF and JPEG" aloud and realized that I pronounce it 'jiff' ...
PS - Linus pronounces Linux something like "Lee-nooks"

That's why I always say sequel.Structured English Query (SQL) Language ("SEQUEL") was designed to manipulate and retrieve data stored in System R. The acronym SEQUEL was later condensed to SQL because the word 'SEQUEL' was held as a trademark by the Hawker-Siddeley aircraft company of the UK. Although SQL was influenced by Codd's work, Donald D. Chamberlin and Raymond F. Boyce at IBM were the authors of the SEQUEL language design.[1] Their concepts were published to increase interest in SQL.
And I say JIFF (For .gif), Jay-Pegg (For .jpg), Pe-en-gee (for .png) & Pee-gee or Post-gree-sequel (for PostgreSQL).

It's actually Guh-NOO/LEE-NOOKS, you eneeardees! (Unless you mean the kernel of course
)
And of course it's GIF, the G stands for Graphics (interchange format), not yer yankee Jumbo-mumbo
Now, you don't wanna hear me say JPEG in it's Bulgarian-ised version, but it roughly goes Juh-PEG (Juh = first syllable in Jersey)
