Forum for Linux?

Post by Ollie Saunders »

Can anybody recommend a good forum for asking questions relating to Linux or are the newsgroups the best?
Also I think I'd like some kind of daily feed of linux knowledge. Something that teaches shell commands and what x subsystem or daemon does. Is there such a thing/place?

I'm asking for a recommendation and an informed opinion not a list of search results.

Yes, but there is a reason why the 1-5 first results are there and not on page 100.
Google for "php forum"... PHPDN is second - right after phpBB.com

Edit: If you google for "php developer forum", PHPDN is first - again, for a reason.

Agreed. For me a human recommendation is sometimes more valuable then blindly trusting "The Almighty Google". Even if Google is able to filter out the spammy results and does find the most popular and puts it on top of the list, most popular is not always the same as highest quality.

I'd be interested in Linux recommendations as well.

Depends entirely on which Distro you want to keep up to date with.

Each Distro has it's own unique distinctive qualities and configurations, making it really difficult to just have one big Linux newsgroup or forum.

Also on that note, the best forums are each distro's very own forums, found on the websites where you download the images.
