Cool stuff in New York

Post by matthijs »

As I'm visiting the states next week, going to New York, I was wondering. Are there any very cool things which aren't in the tourist guides but which I should see?

Of course I'll hang out in Central Park (there's even some climbing there!) and visit the Moma and Guggenheim, but any other cool spots?

You can take the ferry to either The Statue of Liberty or Ellis Island, that would be in guides but still something you have to do. All the times I've been to NYC I still haven't been to the Statue of Liberty. I have been to Ellis Island though. Boring as hell when your 13! :P

There is so much to do just being there will be an experience for you. You'll find out what to do while you are there. Times square is a cool place. If this is your first visit I regret that you have not been able to see the WTC. My first time looking up at that I swear it made me dizzy! But there is still the Empire State Building!

EDIT: Watch out for street cons and hustlers. Carry as little cash as possible.
