Suggest me some good books for PHP

Post by bkarthik »

Hi All,

I want to learn PHP and want to take the certification exam from BrainBench.com. Please suggest me some good books to learn PHP.

Also please let me know, is there anyone in this forum who have already taken PHP certification from Brainbench.com? I would like to know more about that.

Thanks,

Karthik

Thanks Jon. The thread link you gave was very useful. I will grab some good book from there.

Also, you said Brainbench is for Experienced Programmers. Is it very tough?

And Is there any other forum, that also gives certifcation for PHP certification for intermediate level? Please let me know.

Thanks

It's not as hard as they make it out to be really, but I would be familiar with each topic they cover.
Our PHP 4 test measures your knowledge of scripting in PHP Hypertext Preprocessor 4. Designed for experienced programmers, this test covers the following topics: Database, Database Connections, Functions, HTML, and Language.

just a warning regarding Brainbench's PHP exam (I took it myself), there are several questions and aspects of it that does not relate directly to PHP, the only question that I recall right now was something about what microsoft tool you can use to verif/testy SQL queries with MS-SQL server 7...

To me, many of their exams have some odd questions not really related, or at least very insignificant, such as remembering the exact path of clicks to reach some dialog in Excel, I don't think that is important all, it's more important have an understanding of what Excel can and can not do, and be able to find my way there if I need to use it..
