Tills (aka "Registers,") ATM's, and other such devices use WinXP Embedded.

It also powers some slightly more intersting things like the DL.2 lighting fixture and the Hog iPC lighting control console.

I've never tried running it on a desktop but, I see no reason why you couldn't.
