I'm using a Radeon (X1900XT) right now and am really happy with it except one thing: gamma correction doesn't work for 3D games. So for that I use Powerstrip. Other than that I have no problems with ATI: drivers are updated pretty regularly, the performance is fine and image quality is great.

I've always preferred Nvidia over ATI. Every time I own or work with an ATI card I have problems. I almost got the ATI video card for my laptop and I am sure glad I didn't because it isn't supported in the Linux that I use on it.

I've dabbled with both, and have had no problems with either cards. I currently use the GF7600 GTX and it's an amazing card, only reason I went with it is I plan on moving to SLI (just because I can

) later this year, and I wanted a heavy card so that when I do switch, I'll have some insane power behind it.

For no particular reason, I've always had nvidia cards. Never had any trouble, so I just stick with them. I plan to go SLI sometime this year too, I have the motherboard for it and a 6600GT at present. Hopefully people will still be flogging their old 6600GT's on eBay in a few months time
By the way, you do know that your poll is a
brand vs a
graphics card range. It would've been more suitable to use Nvidia/ATI or Geforce/Radeon.

The 7600 GT is at the perfect price to performance spot for you. I have one in one of my machines and it is LOVELY. Best thing about... passive heatsink... NO NOISY FAN!

Dude, am I the only person that uses my computer for work? I can honestly say that I have never looked at graphics cards, sound cards, video cards or any other type of cards except wireless network cards, and that was before I got a laptop with built in wireless.

Due to my days as a game programmer, I stay far away from the ATI brand. They always gave us the most problems with everything.
That being said, I will likely run an X1900 (or whatever's top level and supported) when I get a Mac. While I'd love to have a QuadroFX, they're just a little expensive for my tastes.

Radeon is great for anything current, but most of the cards I got had backwards-compatability problems with certain games.

I've always had ATI personally, despite many driver problems.. but the cards are nice once the drivers are ironed out.
I've had issues with Nvidia at work, but nothing terrible.
I installed a geForce 5500 or something the other day (a $100 card) and it just couldn't drive a 1680x1050 display! I was taken aback - even a 4 year old Radeon can beat that... my current Radeon x1300 can drive a 30" display with 3 times that number of pixels!
It's a real conundrum... whichever brand you choose, do a LOT of reading on the model before you purchase!

I have like only 16 MB on an ATI, it's pretty pathetic. But I'm not upgrading this dinosaur because I'm waiting for Leopard to come out and come installed on mac books.

I don't understand why some graphic cards are so insanely expensive (only to be obsolete in a couple years). I can build a whole computer for the price of one graphics card.

Yeah, I just bought one from NewEgg.

You can't beat the price. Only $100 after the $20 rebate. From all of the reviews the 7600GT is a fantastic and very powerful video card. I have been buying Nvidia cards since I bought my first Riva 128 many, many years ago. I have never had a problem with how well the cards work.

I would avoid the 7600GS even though it has 512 meg of ram. The 7600GT has more pipelines, shaders, etc and faster DDR3 memory. The card I bought comes out much faster. In head to head tests the 7600GT with 256 meg of ram always came out faster than the 7600GS with 512 meg. BTW, if you can upgrade to a PCIE-16 motherboard do it. The graphic cards are cheaper and faster.
