can't paste text to remote desktop

Post by Burrito »

On one of my windows servers I can't paste text from my machine to the server using remote desktop (terminal services). Does anyone know if there is a setting that I need to change to allow this? This is the first server that I've not been able to do this with 8O

I've had good results with UltraVNC as well.. might be worth trying (not that you have a problem to solve anymore... it's just worth trying ;-))

We had similar problems to this a while ago, but instead of it being a direct remote connection, it was a remote, remote connection. (i.e. remote desktop to server 1, then from server 1, remote desktop to server 2. Couldn't c+p from localmachine to server2) So we c+p from localmachine into notepad on server 1, then c+p from that to server 2

UltraVNC is slower than molasses for me. Right now I use a Cisco VPN client and remote desktop in to my machine. It is faster than would be expected, although that issue of rearranging your desktop and locking your start bar kinda sucks...

I need to look into what Burrito suggested because I need to that from time to time and end up FTP'ing up to my own server from the remote desktop then FTP'ing down from the remote desktop to my local machine.

Well, looks my FireFTP Firefox extension is going to continue to be my shared files savior. It's all good.
