Looking for an Xvid encoder

Post by Ambush Commander »

I've tried out AutoGK and StaxRip so far. AutoGK is workable, but it has abysmal support for batch jobs. StaxRip, theoretically speaking should be a bit better, but after downloading a boatload of dependencies, it still complains that I have the wrong version of MKVToolnix (I reinstalled it three times) and combusts spectacularly when I try to do anything with it. At this point, I'm not looking forward into some heavy duty googling to get Stax working. I have approximately 50 small thirty second to one minute clips that I need to compress.

Anyone got any suggestions?

I mean for the encoder itself. I did a little research and it doesn't look like this is the case. Bummer.

Are you sure none of the google results for 'mencoder frontend' suit your needs?

There are a number of unofficial frontends for mencoder, but no "official" one. That's not very encouraging. I'm currently trying out a number of them, will report back results.

Gah! ::Tearing hair out:: iriverter works but it resizes the video and is specifically for portable video devices. The rest of them are for DVD ripping. I took another whack at StaxRip and it combusted again. Tried mencoder but I keep getting errors.

Update: Used AutoGK to get the job done. I was not pleased that it took four clicks to add a single file, but at least it worked. :-)
