I am trying to transfer a domain away from registerfly. I have the password and everything but the domain won't transfer because for some reason it's transfer status is "Domain status doesn't allow for transfer". That is from the registerfly website.

Since there is no customer support for registerfly left can anyone help me come up with a way to make this domain allow me to transfer it? The account that owns this domain also owns 5 other domain that where on register fly but I was able to put in a transfer request no problem. It is just this 1 domain.

It might be on registrar lock, which means that someone at the registrar would have to change its profile. Can you get in touch with anyone over there?

there was a lock on the domain but i turned that off like 2 days ago so i know it propagated. is that what you mean?

No. There are two types of locks that can go on a domain... one from you that prevents any changes to the domain without your consent and one from the registrar that prevents any changes to the domain without their consent. Sometimes you can encounter this when the domain is within 14 days of expiration, or if it has expired. Sometimes the registrar will default the status to registrar lock and require your written instruction to remove the lock.

Can you post the domain so I can do a whois. Sometimes the whois records show the domain status.

Code: Select all

Status:DELETE PROHIBITED
Status:TRANSFER PROHIBITED
These are registrar status tags. This means they need to release your domain for transfer/deletion. If they do not exist, you may need to contact ICANN, although I am not sure what to do beyond that.
