You might want to check a local library first.. If i'm not mistaken i found that book in the public library overhere (and i'm sure the univerties it-library has it too)...

I don't think i found the book very interesting (but that may have been because i had already read a couple (a lot) of other books on the same topic...

Does the second edition count [which can be had used for like $3]? It's a good book on Object-Oriented Analysis and Design. Booch knows his subject and it has brought up a number of questions for me. [Some of which would make for some every heated flame wars.] I think that's usually a sign of a good book, does it make you think? Get a $3 second edition and see if it's what your looking for in a book on Object-Oriented Analysis and Design.

$3 seems reasonable just to give it a whirl. However a topic like this changes very rapidly - if the 2nd addition is more than a few years out of data it might not be very close to the 3rd edition at all. Still, if it's in a third revision it should be worth reading - lasted this long hasn't it?

Booch would be a good read either way.

Thanks for the info. I will seriously consider buying it. Actually a friend of mine made a hint saying... "My birthday is coming soon...wonna buy me this one :)...hehe..just kidding."

I would like to suprise him...and see his face when I bring him the book :). Just wanted to get some feedback first on wheather it is as good as it looks.

As for the $3 + library advice, no can do :(
I am in Bulgaria and those kind of books is just impossible to find. I have to order over amazon or something to a friend ouside bulgaria and he bring it to me. Yep, it is that complex, else I will have to pay +12$ for delivery to BG. Fortunately I have friends come and go abroad more often than not.

I have not read this specific book, but I have read books from the same Publisher and they are very good. In saying that this book looks like it is 14 years old so I personally would go with one that ties in current trends like Patterns and SOA.

would you recommend one. where did you see it is 14 years old + I think book covers pretty fundamental design issues and don't think these has changed much.

The only think that bothers me a bit is that more of half of the book is with sample applications. But I guess if they are described good...this could have good impact on thinking in OOP

the last time I read a good book on this subject was in 1999.

I believe the author was raised by wolves...so you can imagine how fun it was to get through this book. :-) I know he has more recent ones.
