Your ideal news reader

I'm planning on building a web-based news reading app, and for those of you who read news on a regular basis, I wanted to know how you consumed it (via an RSS reader, some existing web app, hopping from site to site, etc..), what kinds of features you wouldn't be able to live without, what kinds of features you would want and don't already have, and what sorts of sites you visit (mainstream media, user-driven outlets, blogs, etc). Any input is welcome, so have a ball... thanks!

I use the Sage plugin in Firefox, or the live bookmarks features to subscribe to XML and RSS feeds. As long as there is a title that captivates me, I am good.

Ms. Dewey rocks. She shows up here every now and again in the form of links from us men folk.
