French curses

Post by daven »

What the bloody hell does 'tabernac' mean? One of my French speaking friends said it during a recent conversation, and will not inform the rest of us as to what it means.

In Quebec French, common swear words are "la vierge" and "tabernac" meaning a disparagement of Mary and the church. Quebecois swearwords are all religion-based, unlike their proper French counterparts based mainly on genitalia and such.
