osCommerce vs. Zen Cart vs. Other

What would you recommend for open source ecommerce software... just want something customizable, stable, so on and so forth.

I am not sure that you would get anybody around here to jump on the osCommerce band wagon. It might happen, but it is doubtful.

What are you guys using? I mean, our DevnetStore isn't going to launch any time soon, so right now when you need to set up a shopping cart for a client, which cart you use for that?

At my company we always use custom code. But for a friend who just wants a simple storefront I'm trying out ZenCart. I'm not a big fan, but it looks like it'll get the job done. I need to try out more of the competition because there simply must be something better.

I'd like to hear other recommendations, too.

I implemented a few osCommerce sites and it was not as bad as everyone keeps telling me it is supposed to be. It is not perfect, but it is completely free. I have heard good things about Zen Cart, but have not tried it.

I think it has to do mainly with the code not being very well done.
