After a little window shopping I've determined that there are many half decent video cards that would support dual 30" monitors :-)

The 512MB x1650 Pro is my current fav for it's $200-ish price tag, there are also a few nvidia 7X00's in that ballpark, then there's always up from there.

I need to buy a CF card reader anyway, is that enough to justify dual 3007WFP-HC's?

I was about -><- that close to buying a Porsche at the weekend. There was a 2nd hand Boxster in a garage near here that I could have afforded if I traded in my current car and spent about 2/3s of my savings. I'm sort of regretting not doing it because it would be amazing.

I hope you regret it for ever and ever and ever. (just joking)
How often is it that one is able to afford a Porsche? Btw, what year model was it?

Not to downplay Porsche's or anything (I like them, especially the new Carrera GTs  ), but Boxsters are a dime a dozen and are relatively inexpensive (given that it's a Porsche), given the year.

Around here the older Boxsters (1999 - 2002) go for maybe $25000, with decent mileage and great condition.

Besides, if you pass on something like that, you're bound to find something better. That's how I found my truck :D

Back on topic, however. I use 19" at work, and 19" at home (for now). I've been debating spending the money on dual 22", but I just don't have the desk space currently, so I may just go for that Dell 24" (work discount :))

I'm happy with my 15" PowerBook + 20" LCD. Dual screens are great and so convenient on a Mac. In the conference room we recently got a 50" Dell Plasma. SO SWEET for meetings and video conferences. I was surprised to find the Mac Mini we have plugged into it could handle the high resolution so well.

Have you driven one? They're awesome. I had a go in my uncle's brand new one.

At the end of the day, a porsche is a porsche!

Compared to a 996, no, they are not real porsches :P

I've always considered them (boxters) over priced for what you get, tbh. Much like Z3's.

Late 2005 (55 plate). In flame red. It's low milage, has lots of options, and is £24,000 (about $45,000).

Dual 30" monitors...

That almost seems like to much screenspace upon reconsidering. :| I suppose you could run two browser (IR & FF) in a single monitor and your debugger and IDE in the second, not to mention the desktop space for icons, etc. I seen an HP 24" which had a pivot point to allow flipping the monitor sideways which I was almost sold on, as I considered being able to view a couple hundre lines of code at one go. I decided on the 22" though...

Any other benefits to 30"

actually, the 24" monitors are far more flexible for that sort of thing, since they follow the HDTV spec. The 30" would be rather overwhelming.. maybe I should go to the apple store and see two side by side in person before I get too excited...

1680x1050 22'" monitors are an excellent value right now - probably the best in widescreen LCDs. I'll likely hold out for 2x 24" 1920x1080's to drop below $400-ish. I've seen the Dell 24"s in the flesh and they're very nice.

Call me crazy, but my brother just got a 32" Sony Bravia for free, to which he said I could have. (he works for Sony)

Samsung 28" and Sony Bravia 32" should play nicely together. :P

Sweet hookup!

That'll be a nice TV, but you wouldn't want to use it as a monitor at 1366 x 768... the pixels would be the size of dinner plates!
