PHP and Web services

Post by Survey »

Hello,

I am writing my Bachelor Thesis within the field of “Scripting languages (PHP) and Web services”.
In course of my work on this topic, I decided to use an online-survey to carve out the extension of Web services in scripting languages.
English is not my native language, so I would be thankful if you could point out my spelling mistakes.

The address of the survey is http://survey.su.ohost.de/index.php?sid=2

The survey is between 10 and 20 questions long, depending on the answers you give. It shouldn’t take more than 5-10 minutes to answer these questions.

Thank you for your help.

When I visited the link I got this freaking pop that had this in red letter:
The called link is incorrect.

Please contact the webmaster of this page.

Der von Ihnen gewählte Link ist fehlerhaft.

Wenden Sie sich bitte an den Betreiber der Seite.

Troubleshooting:

The creative link is not permitted for this URL.
The partner is not permitted for this web site.
The used partner code is incorrect.
After I closed the little float, I started the survey. On question 6 (Web services) you have Company-own service listed. Not exactly sure what you mean by this.

7: *How did you realize the access? not sure about this one either.

Could you guess how many man-days did this project need?

Should be: How many man-days did this project require?

"extension" should probably be "extent"

You also say on that page that the survey is 10 - 20 questions, then below you say the survey is 20 questions. Get rid of that line that says it's 20 questions long - you explain it well enough in the paragraph.

Question 1.4: I believe "Texteditor" is two words: "Text editor"
Question 3.7: Maybe you're using proper terminology when it comes to Web Services, but "How did you realize the access" could, in my opinion, be better stated as "How did you access the web service?"
Question 4.2: "High functional range of each services". "services" should be singular: "service". You don't need to capitalize 'Community' in the 'Huge Community' question, nor 'Service' in the last two questions. 'Web' can be capitalized because it's generally accepted as a proper noun (such as Eiffel Tower or John Smith).
Real programmers don't comment their code. If it was hard to write, it should be hard to understand.

Filling it in now - there's a little confusion in Q4. Zend has both an IDE and a Framework (Zend Studio and the Zend Framework). Not sure which one "Zend" refers to. Would be better to split the IDE/Framework question into two parts. A lot of other PHP IDEs are also missing (Komodo, PHP Designer, PhpED, PHPEdit, etc.). The Symfony Framework is incorrectly spelt (uses an "f" instead of "ph").

You're right. But I haven't worked with Zend yet and I thought they provide just a framework, not an IDE.
The whole 1.4 questions is a little bit confusing, I should have divided it in two parts, but now it's to late.
Sorry for that.

By the way, 40 people have participate so far.
