I saw this on the Crave blog, friggin' psychotic. Too bad Sony is such a lousy company and I swore to never buy one of their products ever again.

Not that I want to get into a debate on the issue, having studied Sony store and their business practices I can say that they are far from a lousy company. I'm sure if you looked at any company you will find faults and ill decisions, however in the grand scheme the successes they have had far outweigh the cons.

Umm, I don't mean to be a party pooper here, but Sony "used" to be a great company. I'm not sure what you studied, but Sony has gone to hell. The products they manufacture now have quite a few defects. These defects include...

1. Resistors with high tolerances, which causes power fluctuation variances
2. Tiny heat sinks, which causes transistors, resistors and premature chip failures
3. Poor programming, which causes some devices to have minds of their own or just be a PITA to use.
4. Poor engineering, most of their products now suck, they rely mostly on their brand name now for sales.

I could go on, but frankly I'll just say that I used to swear by Sony, but they went to smurf years ago. If I want to by anything for my home I'll by Denon. The last Denon amp I bought eleven years ago, which I might add, has never been turned off except when I have moved, is still working perfectly and has never overheated even though it is hooked up to 4 ohm speakers. The Denon manual says not to use anything less than 6 ohm for that amp.

I refuse to buy Sony products, regardless of what it is, because of the past bad experiences I have had with their products.

Good business plan... possibly. Good Products... LOL They SUCK!

One thing I forgot to mention in my last post, is that my electronics have followed me over the years.

Being an avid Sony fan years ago, I purchased quite a few devices manufactured under the Sony brand.

None of them lasted over 2 years.

There is not 1 single Sony device in working order in either of my houses. Nor will there ever will be.

Sorry to take this thread further off-topic but I'm impressed with the PlayStation 3, especially how quick they put a firmware update out.

I agree that alot of people just buy Sony products because they have Sony written on them though. Also, Sony TFT monitors are not even nearly as good as Samsung's.

I think the big problem is that Sony have lost their innovation - when was the last great electonic innovation sourced by Sony? They also have issues relating to the consumer - their Playstation 3 is underselling at an alarming rate while the tehnically inferior Wii is outselling it everywhere (even in Ireland which has an incredible ratio of population to Playstations). Fact is they are relying on their brand name - and that won't last forever... If the P3 doesn't pick up it's going to be a very interesting 2008 for Sony's gaming department :). They must be praying at this stage that Europe jumps on the P3 bandwagon after the long delay in shipping P3s to us...

Like I said, I'm not willing to debate the issue, at least not here.

Back on topic.
