Ye' old general discussion board. Basically, for everything that isn't covered elsewhere. Come here to shoot the breeze, shoot your mouth off, or whatever suits your fancy. This forum is not for asking programming related questions.
Where I work the proxy stops me from going to most of the websites. I can't go to any game website and stuff... I think it simply reads the meta tags and site address to determine if I should be allowed or not. Is there a way around this?
I know of a proxy but how exactly would I set that up? Is there any other way?
You could always just use it for work-related things. Simplest solution. :-p
Before you assume you can hack something, you should be aware of it's capabilities. How do you know that your company doesn't log attempts to pass through their filter?
My advice... either stop trying to get through or get permission to get through. Where I work we have a proxy that manages a blacklist of sites that are not allowed. The list is updated by our vendor every few days and the proxy server uses that set of domains as the key to allow you to visit certain URLs. I can assure that each request is logged along with your IP so if you want to test the boundaries of the patience of the government, continue to try to break through. Otherwise, wait it out until you get home.
It might sound archaic, but you could always get a good book from your local library or just buy one. Much better for your brain than a game. Maybe pick something related to your field of interest and/or something job related.
