Testing on IE 6 on windows vista

Post by s.dot »

I've looked for multiple programs to install IE 6 along side the default IE 7 on vista. No luck. All of the virtual programs and multiple installers are XP only.

Anyone have any ideas?

It is not possible as far as I know.
Maybe that is the reason why Microsoft has created a virtual machine image with Windows XP SP2:

I just purposely never upgraded.

I believe Firefox's IE Tab extension uses IE6's rendering engine.

I think the netscape browser has an IE/FF switcher built into it. I am not sure if it uses the current IE rendering engine or the IE6 engine though.

Sounds like I'll have to get on my little sister's computer and test. And avoid the messaging from boys, limewire, and itunes everywhere, and all the other stuff 16 year old girls do.

It uses whatever version you have on your machine.
