It had a lot to do with it, in theory. The big link is that Adobe has produced one of the finest new Javascript engines in the world. That engine will be incorporated into Mozilla (and thus Firefox) in v3 of their browser. Its also used for Safari. Without it being ported to run on Windows, Apple would have multiple js engines, or other weird solutions that wouldn't give the same benefit. Yes. The key is the codec being used on YouTube. Previously, it was a video format that Apple didn't ship codecs for. Now, youtube is converting their videos to a standard Apple ships.
