Fourth of July in Newark should be cool since they are like the only town (besides Dublin and Alameda) in the entire county that still allow fireworks.
Fireworks are banned in the USA? Image

...
Edit: Oops, haven't noticed you wrote "county", not "country" Image

There are a lot more cities banning fireworks nowadays. I live in a pretty large county in California and in our entire county, there are three cities that allow them (though there are stores in a nearby city that sell them, but the city has outlawed them).

It should be noted, this is personal fireworks... not the displays put on by professionals.

Right right. Many cities actually hire professional pyrotechnic teams for the 4th of July festivities.

Most people here drive out to a reservation to purchase fireworks because they hardly sell any outside of them. I think that even sparklers are illegal to sell.

The birthday was happy. I went to a bar. Two things about bars:

1) Expensive

2) Boring

Yeah, I drove up to Maryland to buy the good ones. You can buy fireworks in Virginia, but they can't have any display, spark, or anything else shoot above 7 feet off the ground.

The police in my area though oftentimes will allow our neighborhood to set off a block display of rockets and such (the illegal kind) so long as there are no more than 5 people doing the display, and we have a 25ft radius of no spectators. They at least understand our celebration and work with us in keeping it safe.

Bars:
1. Expensive, but if you drink enough, you won't realize it until later.
2. Fun if you go with the right group, and they get you super drunk because it's your birthday.
3. Good place to meet people actually, so long as you don't drink so much that you can't remember them.

Hehe, I'm in MD. They're legal in some parts, and illegal in others. You can pretty much tell where it's legal because there's always a huge fireworks kiosk around. :P

The one I went to was a dive. The highlight of my evening was free top-shelf birthday drinks. The low-point? Being hit on by a very drunk.. guy. Oh man!

I went to one nice place it was neat when we walked in, but the the bartender gave us a dirty look while she asked us to pay in a advance. Then the drink was like 12 bucks. gar!

However, having a drink when I go out to dinner is fantastic. I was getting fairly tired of ice water. :) :D:D

What did you guys do on your 21st?

Samll BBQ with friend, dinner at the apartment. I had just gotten married and we knew we were pregnant with our first daughter. Besides, I didn't take up drinking until a few years ago, and then it was pretty much wine only.
