A PHPDN Link Pool.

Post by onion2k »

Inspired by this thread: viewtopic.php?t=69372 ... how about we have a thread where we can stick our domains, with some preferred link text, that we each use on our own sites to link to one another? It'd give all our sites a bit of a boost in search rankings. The link pool should only be open to people with proper sites with real content, not stuff they've copied and stuck loads of banners all over.

Controversial idea: Maybe we should only let people with more than a certain number of posts in? Say, 250?

Hehehe. Controversial or not, inactive members shouldn't be able to. But I just say that as an active member. I just may be a bit biased.

Good idea though. My site is almost ready to go live.

A DevNetwork link swap... sounds good. It could be one of those web ring things... then it really would be a network.

:D All these talks about the link pool thingy makes me feel like bringing my old website back to life.
I was thinking about using WP, do you know of any good (free of course) WP themes?

Well there's a lot of "minimalist" WP themes (an by minimalist, I MEAN minimalist), but that's all I know if in regards to WP. I don't like using pre-made apps after I'm at a point that I could create it on my own. ^_^

If google things it's a web ring, you'll all get penalized. Might not be an incredibly good idea.

Actually, after this post was made, I looked it up on Google. As long as we all have unique content, affiliates are fine.

And then comes the time that you don't like spending your time if you could buy it.. (because time is a limited resource you have...)

:D I was going to say something similar (not the same but similar in a way)... It goes like this:

1. You reach to a point where you can write your own, and then...
2. You reach to a point when you understand that it'd be better that you don't reinvent the wheel. Instead, you focus on other things

That's what I did when I decided to put GeSHi into my code. I wasted enough time not understanding how to go from tokenizing to parsing. :P

But as for the blog, I don't like WordPress. It's too procedural for my taste.

There aren't that many OOP apps out there that are not frameworks. All of the good BB's, blogs and wiki's are primarily procedural code.
