Someone just got shot

I just heard a gun shot about three blocks away. I've got to move.
I'm hoping maybe I was just hearing things, but it's not a very mistakable noise. I'm waiting for sirens. If I don't hear any, I'll assume something just exploded.

July 4th is coming up, transformers explode. Where do you live?

Baltimore.
And there've been no sirens so it's probably something else. I used to live in Baltimore City (now the county) and there were a lot of gunshots and murders there. I guess I'm just paranoid.

Ummm...if something exploded you'd likely hear sirens still...likely faster as Firefighters are usually first of the EMS to arrive on scene...
Although gunshots get cops moving usually pretty quick.

Maybe in Canada, but not in Memphis.

Yeah. Someone has to care that you died before they'll call for an ambulance. It's not my business. I haven't gone outside to check.
When I lived in the city, it was don't ask don't tell. Don't ask me, because I sure as hell ain't telling you.
Not my place.

Unbelievably, one of my best friends was shot by a gang two weeks ago. He had kicked some kids out of a friend's house after the cops had already come and broken up the party. He asked them politely to leave, and after several more attempts to get them to leave, he had to bring out a bat. That got them to leave, but when he went to walk to his car, they drove by and shot him in the leg. That's pretty crazy considering the size of Chico. It's not a big city.

Yeah, I don't threaten anyone... that I can't intimidate.

If they've got a strap on in their belt, I don't see muscle being much of a threat.

I guess you haven't fought hand-to-hand much then.

You've guessed correctly. I've only been in six fist fights in my life. I've never started a fight that I couldn't finish, and if I know there's no chance of winning, I apologize. Faking sincerity has gotten me out of a lot of sticky situations, fighting and otherwise.

Took me [s]10[/s] < 3 seconds to put someone who put my girlfriend in danger in the hospital.
Back on topic though... your may have heard fireworks.

Yes, let's just imagine/assume it was some fireworks to celebrate something happy, ok
I'm getting intimidated here, being around all you hardcore, free-fighting, gun-shooting, putting in the hospital in 3 sec people..

I've never seen a gun. Except ones in museums.
Some things about the UK are really lovely.

O, I have held one. And shot with it. A plastic gun that is. In an amusement center. That's close enough for me
