d11wtq conquers the php|abstract podcast!

Post by Maugrim_The_Reaper »

Our very own d11wtq, aka Chris Corbyn of Swiftmailer fame, has hosted an episode of Zend Devzone's php|abstract podcast. You can download it over at:

http://devzone.zend.com/article/2213-PH ... wiftMailer

I'm downloading it now for a good listen :).

If you haven't used SwiftMailer yet, go get a copy and start using it. It's the coolest Mail library in PHP.

Thanks for the link. Downloading now. Always good to hear to a voice behind a personality you only know from a forum/email.

Bit off-topic: I really had to search for the download link of the podcast. Didn't realize it was the header of the piece of text. Funny, how things like that happen, even for a seasoned internet user like me... shows how important it is to make the main actions very, very, very obvious (maybe these big bright web 2.0 -ish buttons do have a function after all)

Yep, I also tried pretty much all the other links on the page before the actual link to the file.
Downloading right now... 8)

I clicked every link but the podcast as well.

I just noticed on my google homepage the words "PHP Abstract and Swiftmailer" and I was like no... Chris must be the special guest! Awesome! I'll have to listen in a bit. Very cool.

   This was my worst nightmare

I really need to practise speaking to an audience because listening to it back it's so monotone and *yawn*....

PS: It's very difficult to talk about code non-stop, without actually going into anything too-specific ;) Now I just need to work on the Geordie accent and vary my voice a bit. Can I have a second chance? :P

Sure you can have a second chance... and you'll get another $75, so why not? Man I could barely hear you. I use earphones (I don't have speakers here :P ) and I put the sound all the way up till the max and I still couldn't hear you. So I just downloaded it to my desktop and from there to my iPod - where I could raise the sound much more than I can on my comp. :D

Awesome dude. That was a cool little interview. And it is awesome to be able to put your Scottish accent to your handle now.

*cough* not scottish, but people who aren't from England always make that mistake. I'm from North East England several hundred miles south of scotland ;) Most people would just call me a Geordie (pronounced Jaw-dee) but technically I'm not from Newcastle so I'm not a Geordie neither. Burrito said I sounded scottish too when he first heard me testing a web conference app :P

That's exactly what I was thinking... I'm always trying to put an accent on a forum personality and it is very difficult to do.

Chris, don't worry you sounded fine. Much better than Mathew O'Phinney or whatever his name is. He makes me want to stab myself in the head when he talks. Oren is right about the production though, it is very difficult to hear you. Nice work man. :D

That's funny because he came through loud and clear in Winblows Media Player 11. And my volume was only at about 25%.

Being from York, do you say Forty or Fotty ? I've heard people say thing like 4:40 as Four-Fotty before and makes me chuckle
