Nope, I smoke still. I also work out which is probably why the thirst. I'm permanently thirsty, despite drinking quite a lot (I'm also large - 6'2" and 230lbs, 5 litres of water over an 8-10hour day is well within my boundaries.)

I don't drink anything else.

It is not uncommon. When I was working out and losing weight, I was drinking four to six 32 ounce cups of water before lunch. Water is yummy when you are exercising regularly. :)
