Robots in Disguise

Post by feyd »

So I saw the first showing of Transformers tonight. It was, in a word, delightful. What are your thoughts on it?

That is all; You may return to your code. :)

For the sake of others wishing to see it unadulterated, please leave this thread spoiler-free.

All I've seen is a preview where they are exploding cars on a highway and falling off the edge. I don't know much more about this movie other than the similarity to the AVP storyline and the fact that it looks gorgeous.

I plan to see it by the weekend,

The similarity to the AvP story is fairly thin, but on the macroscopic level, I would agree, but then again The Fifth Element among many other movies share the same story then.

Eh, what can you do. I'm sure it's more interesting than Shia LeBeouf and Anthony Anderson fighting robots hand-to-hand. Then again... That does sound like an interesting movie concept. :P

I saw it last night too!

It ROCKED. Michael Bay somehow didn't mangle it, the 2 hr 23 minute running time seems short, and everything looked awesome. The humor wasn't lame (big surprise to me), and... well, just pay attention to Jazz when all the Autobots get introduced...

The trailers look a helluva lot scarier than I remember transformers being when I was a kid. Not sure I will be going to see the movie.

That's one thing I really liked - the movie is not directed at kids, it's directed at the age group the kids that watched Transformers in the 80s have become.

Except the toys are targeted at kids that are the age that we were when we liked transformers when we were kids.

It makes for a rather difficult conundrum of a situation. I might go see it, if I didn't have kids asking me why I get to see a movie about their toys that they don't get to see. See what I mean?

It's overall acceptable for kids to see. While there is a fair bit of violence, it's nothing more than what they would see on daily television. There is a cuss (swear) or two, but again, I've heard them on basic cable TV.

Lots of explosions, fairly loud throughout, but overall, I would consider it acceptable to watch for as young as 6-7 area, depending on maturity.

I'm looking forward to seeing this, that's the first film for a number of years that I can say that for. :)

Question: Does it have the original soundtrack?

I doubt it, would've payed an additional amount of money to see it if it had the original intro theme though xD

Which one? Generally, nothing, in terms of music, from television or movie made it in. There are a few sound effects from the originals however... along with another surprise you may or may not know about, so I'll leave that out. ;)

Hehe. My father is going to take me to see it. He said he didn't want to go into a movie theatre as a grown man wanting to see Transformers on his own. No complaints. Free movie. ^_^

There were FAR more grown men than any other demographic at the show I went to. I'll likely see it again shortly.

It's not my place to convince him out of it. ;)
