I wanted to say what a great forum this is! I had never typed a line of PHP code before joining this forum, and I've used it along with the really good on-line PHP manual to start learning PHP. I am by no means a master yet, but I have gleaned enough information to be able to write my own scripts and generally have them work!

I love having something that piques my interest in programming, and PHP is definitely it right now. If I only had more time on my hands, I could make my entire website all PHPified. But for now, I'll have to just be happy with my PHP dabblings. :(

I waited until now to post this since I have just reached "Programmer" status with my 100th post, so I didn't want to artificially inflate my status. And for all those posts, I think I've only had to be corrected by twigletmac or volka a few times. Not bad for someone who is still reluctant to let go of his "newbie" status, I should say. :)

So thanks, everyone, for helping us PHP newbies learn the ropes!

Here! Here! 8)

I agree. I did buy a book:

...but it left me with only the basics, and i couldn't make money or do any big or small projects with just the beginner stuff i learned within that book. With the help of the Developer network's sites and these great forums i've increased my php knowledge so much i feel confident enough to take on any challenge, if time doesn't forbid it though. :)

I hear what you guys are saying. Sites like these and late late nights help a ton.

Now going forward, why don't you guys create some personal blog sites. It's cool to barf your ideas on line and have other people respond to them. Jason comments on mine a good deal. And I need someone to keep my crazy ideas in check. 8O

Cheers,
