Windows XP Professional already contains Microsoft RDP.
This is the best working remote desktop after Citrix.
You only have to enable it and create a port mapping from your router to your pc (port 3389).
When you are paranoia port map from another port, to port 3389 on the computer.

i've never got VNC to work but then again all the computers can i've been on have been on the same domain. Remote Desktop is great though. whichever refreshes faster is what i would love.

LogMeIn Free is another alternative.
It is working without the need of port mapping.
I don't think that it will be free forever.

I use remote desktop over a VPN. I have used Ultra VNC before, but I prefer remote desktop for performance and speed.

realvnc is cool, I like the way it has a webserver hosting a java aplet viewer so you don't need to download a client to login, handy

I use TightVNC over SSH and LogMeIn. Both are good, although LogMeIn, for the cost of giving access to your computer to a third party, is much easier to set up.

I had a friend with LogMeIn. His girlfriend always felt the need to randomly pop up on his computer, which would be annoying when I was on it. She'd suddenly open up Notepad and start venting.
