Finding Pictures

Post by Chalks »

I wasn't really sure where to put this thread, but... General seemed appropriate.

I'm looking for images/photographs that I can put into a website I'm building. In particular, a picture of a lighthouse. There's not one near me, so I can't take a picture myself, and I'm concerned about just taking it from google image search.... legal issues and whatnot.

So. Does anyone know of a website where I can either get free images for commercial use, or purchase images for a reasonable* fee?

*reasonable means "I'm a poor college student and have $3"

At sites like iStockphoto.com you get 2 - 3 pictures for $3.

http://sxc.hu. I believe most of the images are free, some 100% free, but others require sending an email to ask for permission for commercial use.

Ya I use sxc.hu all the time. The standard restrictions are that you're allowed to use it for pretty much anything. Best resource I've found yet.

@~iknownothing - I edited your post so your link worked.
Real programmers don't comment their code. If it was hard to write, it should be hard to understand.

I'm pretty sure we've talked about this before, but I can't recall anything specific that would aid in searching for it.

Here might be one: viewtopic.php?t=44938&highlight=%2Aphoto%2A+%2Astock%2A
