Great idea, I love it!jason wrote:What if we made a simple way to promote/vote a thread into a how-to/tutorial status and organized these threads/tutorails/how-tos in another location? This offsets the difficulty of having to write new how-tos and tutorials, and makes it a natural part of solving problems on the forum. This also helps to promote older, quality content, and keeps it from getting lost (which has always troubled me).

I think the main problem is that many of those "highly detailed discussions" are a hard slog to read through. Many of the posts are not along the main line of discussion. I recommended earlier that perhaps the main participants could be invited to reprise the discussion in an new thread or a live event that was recorded. Mods could help identify and organize these. I think it would produce an actually readable discussion of a topic (or maybe even a podcast).jason wrote:Let's brainstorm for a moment. Let's say how-tos and tutorials are topical. They need to solve real problems. These forums solve real problems every day. On many occasions, threads become highly detailed discussions.
