I think the main problem is that many of those "highly detailed discussions" are a hard slog to read through. Many of the posts are not along the main line of discussion. I recommended earlier that perhaps the main participants could be invited to reprise the discussion in an new thread or a live event that was recorded. Mods could help identify and organize these. I think it would produce an actually readable discussion of a topic (or maybe even a podcast).
