Magento Released

Post by DaveTheAve »

Magento has been released today at http://www.magentoecommerce.com .

Now can we just get some developer documentation on it so I can start working with it?

Edit: Help me out here, support the request for documentation; be a good PHPer!: http://www.magentocommerce.com/boards/viewthread/43/

EDIT 2: HA! They posted a short overview! I thought I could get them to do something!

certainly looks interesting, though their front-end UI could use some usability design / IA work.

Seems like the pages take an awful long time to load.

At first glance at the topic, I was expecting this to be something about an X-Men villain out on the lam.

On topic, that looks very cool. I'd like to try it out one day when I have time..

I've been waiting for this release for quite some time now. It will still be a while until it's ready for real ecommerce though (as it is just a pre-beta version). I hope it turns out to be all that the PHP and web development community has expected it to be. There really is nobody doing what they are right now... don't tell me oscommerce is either because it just plain isn't the same.

EDIT: Except, of course, DevNetStore, but that is a ways off itself (if those of use who are supposed to working on it ever get back around to it :( )

My attention has recently gone to Satchmo simply because I heart django. I am going to attempt to get better at python and django so I can contribute to that project. It looks very promising.

"<3" = blah blah blah?
Real programmers don't comment their code. If it was hard to write, it should be hard to understand.
