the windows vista recycling bin is magical

Post by s.dot »

It disappears, randomly and frequently. I put it back on there every time, and sometimes when I delete a file, I go to delete it out of the recycling bin BUT WHAMMY! It's gone again.

Kind of amusing after the annoyingness wears off.

Vista bug perhaps?

I've seen this happen a couple of times in vista. It hasn't happened recently though.

That's why Vista is the bad-boy of OSs ;). XP looks at your recycle bin, scratches it head, and leaves it alone. Vista, however, sees it as an opportunity to see how much it can get away with behind your back without you noticing. Mischevious little guy.

If it isn't a bug, it must be a feature... (sigh)

I just googled it. Looks like lots of people are having the same problem. I didn't know that you can right click on the icon and choose 'delete' (which will delete the recycling bin icon). I never empty the bin that way so that's not my problem. But it does seem like a pretty stupid place for the delete option, considering many people are wanting to delete the content of the recycling bin.

No, it disappears. I have to 'right click on desktop -> personalize -> change desktop icons' to get it back. ;)

Code: Select all

<?php
while ($vista->foundAnotherProblem()) {
    $microsoftSucks[] = $vista->getProblem();
}
?>
Although I can see this resulting in a seg fault because of data overload. ;)
