charging my ipod
When visiting my relatives can I charge my ipod by plugging it into their computer usb port, assuming they don't have itunes? Will it then just charge up the battery?
What if they do have itunes? How would I charge the battery without it updating my ipod to their playlists?

Yes, you can plug it in to their USB port to charge it. Be advised that their computer may pop up a warning that there is an external drive attached to the computer. And if they have iTunes, your will get an iTunes warning that you can only have your iPod synced with one library and asking you if you want to sync it with the new library. Tell it no,then leave it alone until it charges.

Re: charging my ipod
It's been quite some time since I've touched my iPod, but as memory serves when you install your iTunes you provide a serial code on your iPod so only that particular iPod is associated with that iTunes.Bill H wrote:When visiting my relatives can I charge my ipod by plugging it into their computer usb port, assuming they don't have iTunes? And yes, it will still charge your iPod without iTunes installed.

I've never done that, and I've got a lot of iPods. All iTunes does is read the unique code from the iPod itself and set an association with that iPod in a hidden file on the iPod itself. Only thing iTunes asks for is a name for the iPod.Jcart wrote:It's been quite some time since I've touched my iPod, but as memory serves when you install your iTunes you provide a serial code on your iPod so only that particular iPod is associated with that iTunes.Bill H wrote:When visiting my relatives can I charge my ipod by plugging it into their computer usb port, assuming they don't have iTunes? Figures.. I'm still on one of those first generation thick 20gb ipods with the old software so I would imagine things would have changed considerably.TheMoose wrote:I've never done that, and I've got a lot of iPods.
