Who would like to make a site like
this?
I don't know about all you guys on this forum, but I happen to really appreciate and respect work like this.
- No flash.
- Graceful javascript downgrade.
- Elegant design.
Just a few things I like about it.
This is the way web vender's are heading in my opinion. I honestly can't wait for the day when all the flash abilities can be done with standard HTML/XHTML, javascript and CSS. Plus, it's fun to browse these sites.

Doesn't work in firefox with javascript disabled. They have a ways to go yet. In fact it doesn't even render correctly.

Umm... What version of Firefox are you using? It's perfect on firefox 2, at least mine.

This raises an interesting question I asked myself the other day...
Do general end users really care about software quality or do they just care that the software works within an acceptable margin?
The latter has been my exprience in dealing with clients for companies I've contracted for.

That site doesn't degrade as nicely as it could. One thing that threw me off was that it took about 12 seconds to load for me when JS was enabled. It took about 1 second to load when JS was disabled. But without JS several key features of the site did not work, so navigation was lost a little bit.
I personally think it could be better.

i personally hate all this flashy stuff. Unless you are showing off your graphic design abilities as part of some CV, this is such a waste. Whatever happened to the KISS rule?

That's pretty much my reaction, too. I don't like a site that takes tens of seconds to load, even if it's jazzy once it finally appears. Of course, everybody has their own preferences and I respect those of others. But I'd have to be pretty desperate to reach a site to sit still for one like that.

There is flash.
This site would look nice if they made some small alterations to the dimensions, it should be based on a grid with a visual rhythm including the type, then it could look really nice.
I think the main concern behind this is usability. As a user of the interweb I don't really care how fancy-pants your graphics are I just want to get the information I'm looking for so I can get on with my job/play a game/do something worthwhile. If you do a really impressive job and you've got some kind of web journey thing going I'll probably be impressed and I may even enjoy it, unless I'm in a hurry, then it'll <span style='color:blue' title='I'm naughty, are you naughty?'>smurf</span> me off.
Back to usability/accessibility:
What is stylizing the scrollbars really achieving? Yeah it looks kinda interesting but I had to think about what they actually were, and when I went to use them I wasn't sure what to expect. "How's this scrollbar going to feel when I use it?" I thought to myself. The arrow keys no longer work, the scroll wheel is a bit weird, clicking the scroll wheel and mousing up and down doesn't work, incidentally I must be the only person who scrolls like this because that doesn't work in Google Reader either.
Why's this site not filling my screen? I didn't by a big screen so you could stick something in the middle of it and leave the rest blank.
I'm sure I could go on.

Do you use mootools over other libraries?

Doesn't work with js off. In fact it's even insist on turning js on: "Por favor active o JavaScript para visualizar melhor este site."
