Ole's totally high....

Post by Kieran Huggins »

....about 40,000 feet up, actually. Probably over Newfoundland as I write this.

here's the deal: Ole's coming to Toronto for three weeks to test the great Canadian waters and check out the local tech community - any 416/905ers want to have a welcome meet-up one of these days? Let me know and I'll work something out.

There are already a couple of TorCamp events and a Rails Pub Night on the agenda, but I thought it would be cool to have a small PHPDN get together. There could also conceivably be a Montreal road trip in our future.

I'm off to Pearson to pick him up at noon.

These devnet meetups are pretty cool but very rare. The last one I recall was between two of our moderators in the states. I'm a bit far away to meet up in Toronto though :P

Have fun!

Califdon has set up a small developer meetup on the Peninsula (the San Francisco side of the Bay Area). I want to attend the meeting today, but family reasons prevent that from happening right now.

I had some fun with customs when I said I only knew Kieran through the internet but now I'm here I'm in the presence of Kieran himself.
We're planning what to do over the next few weeks.

He hasn't murdered either me or any of my roommates with an axe yet, which is a good sign! I predict much good-timeage.

Montreal could be awesome, but Niagara Falls is higher on the attraction list so far. Plus it's way closer :-)

@Jcart: Our schedule is likely a fair sight more flexible than yours - ping me when you have a free mealtime!

Anyone else in the GTA?

Hey, thanks for the PR, Everah! Problem is, only ONE person showed up! :( And that was one of my buddies from the Access User Group (you'll pardon the expression!) who wants to go straight. It was fine for him, since he's just getting started with open source and he had my total attention for 2 hours! He loved it. But I had made a big pot of coffee and had to decide whether to drink it all or dump it down the sink. I'll let you guess which I did. Robert, I knew that you weren't going to be able to make it, and another guy let me know that he had a conflict today, but two other guys confirmed that they'd be here and just never showed up. Kind of discouraging. I haven't given up, though. For the benefit of the rest of you, this wasn't a DevNet group, so nobody here was a bad guy.

And it's great that Ole is hooking up with Kieran, eh?
