Down Time?

Post by Charles256 »

That was really weird. Forum was down all morning. Any news from moderators on what the devil happened?

It seems that the forums were actually down since Friday. We don't as of yet know what happened.
Real programmers don't comment their code. If it was hard to write, it should be hard to understand.

We're back (for now).

Im not sure what the issue was, but we are currently working on some upgrades and converting to phpBB3.

The site was down for at least a solid day. You could create a mirror domain name and emulate the site there and only have about an hour's downtime for migrating the most current database versus doing it all using one domain name. It hurts my Zombie needs for brains when Devnet goes down.

One day? Make that three. Was it again a dos attack on the server?

I know it was down twice if not three times? It's been back up a couple times in between. Maybe you were really unlucky to check only when it was down. I have been checking once every few hours.

telling you. I been posting on my forums like twice a day just to pass the time. :-D i'd post then refresh devnet. I was ALMOST excited when it came back up today. Set up PHPBB3 on mine and I like the new admin interface. It's different but you get used to it.

Yeah, it is good. Loads better than the current admin panel.

We've actually had devnet running on phpBB3 behind the scenes for a few months now. Now it has gone Gold, we are ready to release it.

Haven't seen phpbb3, but as long as it has this theme (silver/blue it's called?), it's ok with me.

So was it another DDOS attack? or did someone unplug the router to charge their cell phone or something? Inquiring minds and all that.

Also, should we be be looking for other hosting? I can't remember a time when 3 days of downtime was ever acceptable in a host.

We've already lined up separate hosting. Whether we transition to it or not, I can't say.

Seems like it's still barely able to stay up.
