Maybe take a look at your DNS server(s). This domain name wouldn't resolve to an IP when the site was unreachable, even using nslookup (Verizon is my ISP).

Is phpbb capable of handling such a high load of traffic and sheer number of posts? I've often wondered this in the past. I've never done any kind of testing. phpbb3 seems to be better in every area, so maybe this won't happen as much (but I doubt that's the problem).
In either case, it's an interesting thought. I think a custom forum for devnet would be sweet (*cough*DNA*cough*)

It's not a high load by any means, and yes, phpBB can handle it. Remember, the largest forum in the world is running on phpBB (albeit custom version).

What is the largest forum in the world? In general (minimal or no modifications) and whatever would be a good model for the server's hardware what is the general range of activity PhpBB can handle? Is there some sort of comparison with other forum software?
