Is my Mac broken or is it Google?

As of today, Google looks like this for me :(

Anyone else seeing this? Other websites look fine, it's just Google. The only thing I can possibly link it to if it's not Google is the fact I installed MS Office 2008 today which install a ton of fonts on the system.

On all browsers? Or just whatever you're currently using?

I know what happened because it happened to me too. I'm guessing you didn't heed the Microsoft Installer warning to quit all open applications first, right? The fonts they install (and move) make every open app unstable. Just quitting and relaunching Safari sorted it for me.

Trust Microsoft to give me a negative experience during the installation process, let alone when I actually start to use the software. It's the only installer I've used in the last year that has asked me to quit all other apps, and that has moved font files without explicitly asking first.

So......... they warn you to close all programs, he doesnt and then you blame microsoft? and many many many software require you to do this for obvious reasons.

i see enough trolling on digg.com per day to last me a lifetime, please dont do it here.

Not in OS X. Drag the app to the folder application, and it's installed. I can't remember ever having to shut down other applications.

But you have to admit, if it warned you, and you didnt do what it asked, it's your own fault...

Sorry for the troll-like comment, but it's just as matthijs says with OS X software - indeed some installation procedures can be positively beautiful to behold.

The comment from Inkyskin is of course totally valid - we should have followed the instructions!

It's pretty weird. You're right, I shut down my Mac while I cycled to work, and now after restarting everythig's back to normal. I can only assume MS Office overwrote some of the fonts OS X already has, with it's own MS equivalents for something.

Even worse - it moves them. Look in ~/Library/Fonts Disabled.

I'd rather it moved them than overwrote them ;)
