Three 0's in a row!

sooo.... A little over a year ago
(is that right? has it really only been that long? Seriously?) I dropped by this forum for
some damn reason, I think I was struggling with the stupid DOM or something. That was back when I thought I liked XML. XML can bite be now, but this is getting off topic...
So I figured since this constitutes my 3000th post
(and who doesn't love a big, fat, round number in an almost arbitrary base?) I'd take stock of my time here. In the past year as a DevNet junkie I've lost a girlfriend (she sucked anyway), my mind (it sucked anyway) and my vacuum (it barely sucked at all). Already, I've come out way ahead... but wait, it gets even BETTER! I've also learned a
tonne here
(that's right: metric, baby!), the lot of you are all very talented in your own, special ways
(except Everah, he's just "special") and have made this place what it is: awesomesauce. Further more, Ole's decided to come work with me in Toronto at our own kick-ass development shop. How cool is that? I mean really?
It always astounds me how seemingly innocuous choices can have such a big (and positive) impact on your life, and for all the reasons above I'm glad I clicked on that particular Google link and ended up here.
truly,
Here's to another year of incoherent ramblings, bad jokes, and the occasional lolcat reference:

Each and every one of you rock the casbah!

Yeah,
thin, this is what I hear about the beers in Australia too
Just recently a friend of mine turned 30, and in commenting how she felt about it (she didn't feel it was any kind of "special" year, smart girl) I realized this: the programmers don't care about such number being "special". Why? Because in binary, every
second number ends in 0

The only mixup with numbers we have is figuring out the dates of Halloween and Christmas. For the life of me I can't remember which is which, 31 oct is the same bloody number as 25 dec ....
P.S. Hmmm, maybe for my 666-th post I should write something like: "I've found a hole in mysql_real_escape_string, and I'm off to hack the Vatican", and then never be heard of again.

Toronto is the bees knees and the mature cheese that makes you wheeze.

I've considered this a couple of times already. I'm glad you turned up that day with your DOM
(man) problem, and I'm glad I was the one who replied
(examined). Undoubtedly the best thing the that inconvenient API ever did for me
(to you).
Actually, I remember talking to a friend on the phone whilst surfing devnet that day. I was complaining that "everyone who posts in PHP - Code is an idiot" and then I saw your post and was compelled to say "well, except this guy; this guy's awesome" so there you go.
I leave you with Sid the super sumo who sat on the sour satsuma and sounded sad.

Good job Kieran. Indeed funny how random choices have such great effects. That's also a good incentive not to push things to hard in some predefined way, but instead let thing come and go in live as they happen. Keeps it all very interesting. Who knows who you will meet next month and what will happen after that?

lol - I should totally send ole some roses on VD day just to freak his parents out! That would be funny for
weeks!!! Especially since gay marriage is legal in Canada.
Oh crap... I just spilled hot tea on myself laughing about that.

Aw, KHug thinks I'm "special".
And I remember when I was but a wee 3000 post member here. Those were the days. It feels like it was just two years ago... oh wait, it was for me.

... you bloody spammers!
Without you this would be a nice cozy silent place, instead of this monstrocity where noobs ask questions and - whoever heard of THAT! - actually get answers. You're ruining teh intarwebs with your silliness. More than two posts a day and you get the ban, that's what I say

I have nothing to say in particular, just thought I'd increase my post count. Look out Everah - I'm closing in!
