I understand why the referral was deleted, and I support the decision to do so. Posting something along the lines of "I wrote this free library and appreciate donations, should you decide you want to." is a far cry from hiding a referral link in a url. Neither are spam, to be sure, but the latter is certainly "on the slope", and it's a slippery one to moderate.

I think the main issue is disclosure.

You know what is ridiculous? You completely removing the link after I removed the referral link. Is the only reason you shared this link with the community to gain in referral promotions?

Seriously guys.. get over it. We don't want people advertising in our forums. Period. What differentiates other spam we get from referral links? It's not like I removed the link completely, simply removed the referral part of.

If you have a problem with my decision.. then you may take it up with another moderator privately. The public forums is not the appropriate section to make a complaint.

back on topic...

I use google as the results I find far more relavant than that of Yahoo or MSN Live. As far as UI Google keeps it simple and I like that

I think there needs to be some caution when Google have no real competitors. Surely we don't want another Microsoft...:dubious:
