Linkedin Group for PHPDN?

Post by DaveTheAve »

Hello everybody (Hi dr. nick!)
I just signed-up for a linkedin account hoping that I can expand my client-base for consulting and I was wondering if PHPDN has a group I can add to my account?

P.S. If you want to add me to your account: http://www.linkedin.com/in/DaveTheAve

I have an account there but don't really use it. Once in a while I get an invitation from someone to have them be added to my connection list. I understand how it is useful in theory, but in practice I haven't found a good use for it. It's probably useful if you do a lot of outsourcing etc and you need to find new people for your network on a regular basis.

For now it's one of the (many) "sleeping" accounts I have all over the place ;)

I could see it being useful as a sort of live address book, being updated by your connections themselves. Well, hopefully...

Facebook is way more popular than LinkedIn among developers. I have a LinkedIn account, but seriously only use it to connect with recruiters. It has yet to show its practicality to me. Although now that it is totally copying the Facebook interface and style, maybe more people will use it.

But probably not.

PS No offense to my neighbor, who just went to go work for them as their corporate Controller.
