Php Greenhorn

Post by nootkan »

Hi after reading through hundreds of posts on this forum, I am happy to finally find a forum that accepts me for who I am, namely a php greenhorn trying to struggle through learning this so called simple language. Please be patient with me as it hasn't clicked in my mind yet but when it does I hope to contribute to this forum like the rest of you. Been trying to learn php for a while now and I can only hope my feeble mind is capable of it. Sometimes I wonder. I have purchased a book called php for the world wide web, but it is difficult to understand so I started copy/pasting scripts and trying to make them work to get a better understanding of how php works. I am from Vancouver Island, British Columbia Canada and my occupation is a long haul truck driver which doesn't allow me much online time (probably why its taking so long to grasp). Sorry for the long winded intro, but I feel good having found a forum that doesn't mind teaching. Talk to you soon.

Welcome.

Keep at it, show us your code, and pretty soon you will be answering questions too. ;)

Welcome aboard mate ( as Corbyn would say  ). This is the best PHP forum on the information superhighway. Lotta good folk. And don't worry... I was in the same spot you were just three years ago. Here is the best learning resource I found that helped me most... I recommend you buy it and read it, re-read it, and re-read it again:

Awesome introduction. Keep your head up. It can get daunting at times, but all of us here, all of us, had to start somewhere. I began learning 5 years ago and with the help of the good folks on these forums was able to take my development skills and turn them into a very good paying professional PHP developer job. Next step for me, actually launching Everah Media Services full time. It can be done. For both you and I.

And like arborint said, post code. Ask questions after you have tried something, but always post your code so we can help you get better.
