Everah using vim? Somehow I would never think of that... don't know why, actually.
Probably because I have been a *nix-o-phobe for so long. That, or because I seem to favor GUI editors. But VIM is kicking some serious tail for me as of late.

I've always wondered why so many people use dreamweaver...everyone who's posted that they use it, hasn't given a reason

It has a hefty price tag, so surely it must either have some amazing feature, or great support that other free products don't have. Does it even support Linux?
Would anyone care to enlighten me?

Well DreamWeaver has a cool name... so there's that. Names are VERY important when it comes to selecting an editor. Why else do you think nobody uses notepad or word? The names are too simple, and have no built-in proof that the authors are totally smart and/or cool.
Personally, I like gedit. It
gnome's
editor... ged-it? (I got it, now I'll never un-get it)
Also, Editplus is awesome, because you can edit.... PLUS a bunch of other stuff, presumably. (though i haven't figured out what the PLUS is yet, exactly)
Don't y'all feel bad; I'm quite on the ball about this kind of thing

Not to mention I'm sure 99% of the "Webmasters" out there running on Dreamweaver have "special" copies. Special in the way that my twinkie from the corner store is special... if it's on a rack outside the shop it's a free sample right...?

I am sure a lot of people use dreamweaver because they don't have to know how to code anything. DreamWeaver can write all the crappy code you can stand for you without your needing to know anything about development.

I also use Dreamweaver and now I will give a reason for that. I do use it but only for HTML cause it's got nice autocompletition features as far as HTML. I do not use the WYSIWYG editor. And I only use it because I started off with it and it gives me the feeling of the oldschool times.

Otherwise there is no need for it due to the fact the the actual programming part can be done a lot faster and more efficiently using NetBeans or Eclipse or whatever. And yes, it does write crappy code.

I love the idea of using foot pedals in vim to switch between modes.
I'm mulling over whether to switch from emacs to vim as I don't fancy setting up emacs all over again on my new work laptop

Notepad2 on Windows. Such a great little program...tons of features yet its tiny. Good on the go too.
I used to use Notepad++, but the program's retarded idea of checking on the currently opened files all the time caused problems (freezing) over a slow network share.

I've had a great experience with Coda, but it fails when you try to use it through a proxy.
