Strongest coffee to buy

Post by impulse() »

I'm looking to buy a potent ground coffee. By potent I mean the one with the highest caffeine content. I've bought the strongest stuff from British supermarkets but it's just not really that strong. Can you recommend a ground bean that is scarily strong? I've tried Google for this but when I'm searching for "strong" i'm hitting pages that are describing the taste and not how much caffeine is in it.

If you intending to drink it as a stimulant I would suggest rethinking your approach. If you're having trouble working for long periods it's probably because you're either unfit or dehydrated. Do more exercise and drink more water. Chemical stimulants will let you work for longer, but only until you crash and you're useless for days...

I don't work 16 hour shifts or anything close to that. I work a 7h 15m 5 days per week. It's just nice to have a boost in the morning. I do find I have a higher concentration level once caffeine hits me.

Why not drink a triple- or quatro espresso? If that does not get you started, go back to bed and sleep for 3 days :)

Eat apples. One apple will give enough of a boost that you'd need 10 cups of coffee to match it. Eating apples increases the metabolism, so you'll get more energy.

If you're finding yourself in need of chemical stimulants, be it for a morning boost or just in general, there is something wrong with your diet, sleep pattern, or general lifestyle.

I do have a bad sleep pattern but that's because I'm young and I do heavy weekends. I will try your apple suggestion though.

Temporarily turning on the brightness of my apple to the max in the morning gets me awake as well 8O

.. something to do with light and melatonin I think

Have I missed a hidden joke there or is there some hygienic reason to do so?

Apples are acidic. :) And I didn't want to seem condescending when "telling" a grown person to brush their teeth.

Do you brush your teeth while at work after eating an apple? I'd feel kind of silly going to the toilet to brush my teeth at work :D

Just don't brush your teeth straight away :lol: (you'll be brushing your teeth with acid...byebye enamel 8O )

Try doing something that releases adrenalin before you start work, for example, go for a run, do press-ups, sit-up, whatever you have time for.

Also, make sure you drink a couple of glasses of water after a night out. :)

You know... all these suggestions are alright, but if you REALLY want to put a bounce in your step... drink moonshine. :drunk:
